I have traveled to Palm Springs many times but then in March 2012 I was introduced to Sagewater Spa in Desert Hot Springs…what a find! My partner and I have been to this amazing small boutique property four times in the past twelve months, the last of which was a trip in which we celebrated my birthday with two friends from Seattle. …..splendid!

The warm and gracious owners of Sagewater Spa, Rhonie and Cristina, are always engaging and friendly. The immaculate grounds, inviting rooms and the awesome mineral pool are all perfect for the relaxation we want. This is like our own private getaway home; it is an ideal place for singles or couples wanting a quiet tranquil retreat that offers a sense of community if you want to be social.

This lovely retreat in the magical desert has become our home away from home and I look forward to our return.

Wonderful soaking in the mineral rich hot-tub, or floating in the pool…the Sagewater’s small, friendly environment is perfect as a destination to gather friends or make some new ones! The barbecue and dining table invite meal sharing. The rooms provide quiet respite from the sun — complete with kitchens for easy, healthy meal planning.

We just spent the weekend at the Sagewater Spa and it was a true pleasure. The Sagewater is such a welcome break from the loud, overpriced hotels (everything) in Palm Springs. The owners are so genuinely nice and they own the cutest dog of all time. The water here is downright special. Afterwards you feel so soft and massaged. It’s unreal. I can’t wait to go back. I highly recommend this secret spot!

We were so fortunate to stay at the Sagewater for three nights in March, and extended for a fourth. The hot jacuzzi & adjacent warm swimming pool were perfect for sunbathing & relaxation. Even when the air was cold – and it can be when the wind blows – the pools were inviting. Their water wins awards. We had a room with a large window. It was sleek and modern – very comfortable, if not plush. The morning we left, the mountains out back put on a show – we awoke to a panorama of fresh snow draped across the peaks. The Innkeepers are beyond special – it’s the only place I’d go back to just because of the people who run it. They’re great fun to talk with and be around. They’re determined to make sure you’re comfortably settled in & will suggest restaurants, walks & such to enliven your stay. We had terrific massages. No breakfast, but the complimentary coffee cake is superb and addictive. Highest rating -

Feels like the “home” you would want to be in –where you do not have to do much of anything — except soak and relax in peace knowing you are lovingly cared for by Rhoni and Chris.

My Sagewater “home” (as I like to think of it) is quiet, comfy, clean, simple, tidy, safe, convenient, and welcoming.

It is easy being there with great owner/hosts Rhoni and Chris who know how to make you feel at “home”. From their “Welcome Home” upon arrival, to the fabulous sheets and their own figure-friendly Grandma’s coffee cake, the Sagewater is my place to be! It is a place to soak and heal. It is a place to be free from the routine of hectic daily living. It is a place that allows me the peace I need to hear the quiet voice inside.

Only a few more weeks until my next visit! Yahoooo!

Amazing weekend with my honey. So quiet and peaceful. She called it “a slow burn” and I think that’s accurate. It may not have the wow! factor of Two Bunch Palms or some other five star desert spas, but it has plenty of style, is well appointed, and the service is crisp. The waters are clean and warm. The beds cozy. A great place to unwind, soak, and bag some rays in a breezy sundrenched courtyard. I will mos def be back!

A Gem in the desert. If you want to truly escape and wind down from all the overflow of sensations of a busy life in the city this is the place. Extremely simple and minimalist. Super clean. You have no meals served, but deliciously pressed sheets.

I returned with a suitcase full of clean clothes because I spent my time in my bathing suit and the provided robe. Relaxing in the pool, Having massages. At night floating on the water looking in the stars. It is quiet and everybody that was a guest when I was there seemed to respect that quietness, no TVs or radios blaring no loud cellphone babble.
Cristina and Rhoni are the best hosts that you can ask for. You need to talk or ask something and they are available, you want to just breathe they leave you alone. They have a feeling for the needs of their guests.
Was there just a couple of days felt like weeks.

Me and my wife just made are fourth or fifth trip to Sagewater – there is no other place that we continue to return to again and again. Why do we keep coming back? Simply there is nothing to do in desert hot springs – and I mean that in the best way possible – once we arrive we can literally not leave the confines of Sagewater – just soak in the pool/hot tub, read, hang out and relax. Yeah Palm springs is just a short stop away, but if we want to go we stop on the way in or out. If were feeling ambitious we might go for a nearby hike, but the reason to come here is to do nothing and relax.

The other reason is the water – The pool/hot tub is amazing, the natural mineral water feels great. It is a little more buoyant, and has a special quality about it. I will grab a couple of noodles and float for hours or sit in the water with a book.

My favorite time of the day is the 2 hours preceding and just past sunset. I personally find it mandatory to be in the pool at this time – the quality of light is beautiful – reminds me of James Turrell.

What to know: Sagewater is simple – nice clean rooms – it is not a place to go to be waited on or to do a lot of activities. There are little kitchenettes and a bar b q (which is what allows you to stay put).

The host are delightful too, friendly and talkative but will also leave you alone. They will remember you;).

Trip Advisor: Simplicity & serenity under the stars

My husband and I stayed at Sagewater in early December, escaping from the grey, dark, wet PNW winter, and it was heaven. The incredible hospitality of Rhoni, proximity to wonderful sunny day hikes, and fabulous pool soaked nights under the stars lifted our spirits in preparation for the long deluge that followed. Interactions with fellow guests and the convenience of having a kitchenette made the get-away even more relaxing. We plan to return every winter!
